It takes a village.
I'm Kendra Gardiner, and I joined the Avon Lake Board via a special appointment in 2022. I remain committed to my role on the board after this first year because I believe it takes a village to raise children and when the village works together, not only do the children thrive the parents, families and community do as well.
When the village works together, everyone wins.
To do this it will take intentionality, creating space for collaboration and two-way communication. With new leadership in the district and the bond issue on the ballot for new facilities we all have a unique opportunity to charter a strategic plan for the school district together.
Avon Lake is already a great school district – 1st in Lorain County, 9th in the Cleveland-Metro area, and in the top 4% and 5% respectively in Ohio and nationally. My desire is to work with the board and leadership to ensure we not only remain great but push ourselves to new levels – for the sake of our children and our community.
